If betting odds are say 10/11 do you still make money?

Hey, i know this must be a really stupid question but i really am a betting novice.

I wana put i bet on thats 10/11. i know that that means if you put £11 on you get £10 back but i was wondering if you get the initial £11 u put on aswell?
